New build of four traditional style almshouses in the grounds of the existing grade 2* listed almshouses to the front of the site. The project incorporated traditional detailing with modern technologies such as air source heat pumps to create much loved new additions to the local almshouse community. This bespoke contemporary home enjoys spectacular sea views. The walls are constructed from Beco Walform blocks, which allowed for more design freedom, and the zinc panelling combined with crisp white render on the exteriors help make this home sharp and elegant. Click on the link to see more.

These properties are aimed for the independent living of recovering war veterans. This project for two large blocks of flats was the first stage of development for the RBLI. A low rise masterplan is now also being developed.
This project was a large scale housing project which I worked on as part of a large team within the office aiming to create a new community where people would enjoy living. As a mixed-use community of 4,000 homes with landmark residential buildings the project was split into several phases, and I worked on a few of them over my years at Clague Architects.
Part of a larger project that I worked on as a part 1, this project was the start of my love affair with conservation architecture and historic buildings. The chapel was part of a grade A listed mansion in Ayrshire which was damaged extensively by fire. The project involved the restoration of the building, and conversion of the mansion into flats enabled by some new residential properties in the grounds.
